How It All Began
Tortas Ahogadas Guadalajara started with a simple idea: to share the flavors of Mexico in Chandler, Arizona. Food has always been a part of my life, and opening this restaurant was my way of bringing traditional recipes to the community.

Our menu is built around Mexican classics that people love. We serve chilaquiles, burrito tapatio, buche tacos, sopes, pollo tortas, chiles rellenos, flautas, and caldo 7 mares. These dishes are part of our culture, and each one is prepared with care.
What is "Torta Ahogada"?
One of Guadalajara’s most iconic dishes, and also a well-known cure for a hangover, is the torta ahogada. This hearty sandwich is made with a birote (a crusty Mexican roll) filled with beans and tender pieces of carnitas, then smothered in a flavorful tomato sauce and a fiery chile sauce. The level of heat depends on how much chile you add—fully drowned means very spicy, while half-drowned is a milder option.
